(Alliance News) - URU Metals Ltd on Friday said it has completed a high-resolution airborne geophysical survey at its Zebediela nickel project in South Africa, confirming geological features and supporting new exploration targets.

The Toronto, Canada-based mineral exploration & development company said the survey, conducted by Xcalibur Airborne Geophysics Pty Ltd, gathered gravity and magnetic data across the project area at no cost to URU.

The company said the dataset confirms the presence of a long-lived ultramafic magmatic feeder system linking the Uitloop I and II zones, along with several NE-SW fault zones likely associated with magma movement and sulfide mineralisation.

URU said the results strengthen the exploration model developed by its 74%-owned subsidiary, Zeb Nickel Corp, which points to vertically stacked zones of sulphide mineralisation, similar to those at Ivanhoe Mines Ltd' Platreef project and African Rainbow Minerals Ltd' Nkomati mine.

The data will now be analysed by a specialist geophysical consultancy, with 3D inversion modelling, voxel imaging, and re-interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomalies to help define drill targets in untested parts of the system.

This work is expected to guide a new drilling campaign focused on zones 2 and 3, where the company hopes to delineate higher-grade nickel-copper-platinum group element mineralisation.

Richard Montjoie, VP of Exploration at URU, said: "This survey has provided clear confirmation of the structural and geological controls on nickel and PGE mineralisation at Zeb Nickel. The presence of a robust feeder system between Uitloop I and II significantly upgrades the prospectivity of both zone 2 and zone 3."

Montjoie added that the company aims to declare a maiden NI 43-101 compliant resource based on the upcoming drill results.

Shares in URU Metals were up 15% at 5.16 pence in London on Friday afternoon.
