(Alliance News) - Prospex Energy PLC on Thursday said it now expects drilling at the Viura gas field in northern Spain to begin in May, after initially being delayed by six to eight weeks in February for operational reasons.
The Europe-focused gas and power project investor also announced it has agreed to acquire the remaining stake in Tarba Energia SL from Warrego Energy Ltd for EUR652,725, making it the sole shareholder of the company. The acquisition is being funded entirely from Prospex's capital resources.
Tarba Energia holds Prospex's interests in the El Romeral production concessions and gas-to-power plant in southern Spain, as well as the Tesorillo and Ruedalabola exploration permits. The company said the acquisition price equates to USD0.092 per barrel of oil equivalent, which it described as "an excellent price by almost any measure."
Chief Executive Officer Mark Routh said: "I am extremely pleased to announce the increased ownership in Tarba, the El Romeral concessions and the related gas-to-power plant in Carmona.
"Importantly the acquisition is being made using accumulated cash reserves from our investment portfolio and is expected to lead to significantly increased production revenue once the permits to drill the five new wells on the El Romeral concessions are approved."
Shares in Prospex Energy closed up 5.5% at 6.49 pence on Thursday in London.
