(Alliance News) - Prudential PLC on Wednesday said it is evaluating a partial divestment and potential listing of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Co Ltd.

The London-based provider of life and health insurance and asset management in Asia and Africa said net proceeds would be returned to shareholders following a divestment.

Prudential holds a 49% stake in ICICI Prudential Asset Management. Indian financial services company ICICI Bank Ltd holds the rest of the joint venture.

The potential listing is subject to market conditions and approvals, Prudential said.

The company has undergone a series of changes in recent years, including the spin-off of M&G PLC in the UK in 2019 and the demerger of Jackson Life in the US in 2021. It means Prudential is now focused on Asian and African markets.

Prudential shares were up 6.7% to 728.62 pence in London on Wednesday morning.
