(Alliance News) - Capita PLC on Tuesday said it has strengthened its partnership with the Royal Navy as it reported an expansion of its existing training contract, upping the value to around GBP1.3 billion.
The London-based outsourcing and professional services company said it has been granted additional scope for its current contract to provide comprehensive training services for Marine Engineering within the Royal Navy at HMS Sultan.
HMS Sultan is the home of Marine Engineering Training Group and the Royal Naval Air Engineering & Survival School.
The expansion, said Capita, is valued at GBP97 million and will commence on May 1 this year for a period seven years and 11 months.
It increases the total value of its Royal Navy training contract to approximately GBP1.3 billion, marking the 10th service transition managed under the contract initially awarded to the firm in 2021.
Designed to enhance the Royal Navy's operational capabilities, Capita said the additional scope will see it deliver "a core range of services", consisting of training in design and media, support, quality assurance and equipment management.
It added that it will leverage its extensive experience in training delivery to integrate the new services into the overall Royal Navy training construct, share best practices and explore opportunities to extend training transformation into Marine Engineering.
Capita shares were 1.7% higher at 14.56 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
Capital Public Service Chief Executive Richard Holroyd said: "Strengthening our partnership with the Royal Navy and expanding our role in delivering critical training services is aligned with our strategic focus on delivering solutions that contribute to national preparedness.
"This contract win underscores our commitment to providing innovative and effective training solutions as evidenced in the success of our successful Royal Navy training delivery, including improvements in the quality of teaching and learning, and consistent delivery".
