(Alliance News) - Carlsberg AS on Friday announced its subsidiary Carlsberg UK Holdings Ltd completed the acquisition of Hertfordshire-based drinks maker Britvic PLC.
"The transaction brings together an experienced and capable management team from both businesses that will drive attractive growth for the combined business. With this acquisition, Carlsberg is also strengthening its existing relationship with PepsiCo [Inc], becoming its largest bottling partner in Europe," Copenhagen-based Carlsberg said.
The Danish brewery, which also owns brands including 1664 and Brooklyn, has created a single integrated drinks business called Carlsberg Britvic following the GBP3.3 billion takeover.
Britvic, based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, employs around 4,500 people and also makes Robinsons squash and Tango.
The takeover on Wednesday was approved by a High Court judge.
The companies announced the agreement last July, saying it would create an "enlarged international group" that can expand into "multiple drinks sectors".
