(Alliance News) - TheWorks.co.uk PLC on Tuesday confirmed it was subject to a cyber security incident that involved unauthorised access to its computer systems and resulted in some disruption to its operations.
The Birmingham-based stationery retailer said the disruption to trading and business operations was limited. It included the closure of some stores due to till issues, replenishment deliveries to its stores being temporarily suspended, and the normal delivery window for online orders being extended.
Nonetheless, store deliveries are expected to resume imminently and normal online service levels are progressively being reintroduced, TheWorks.co.uk said.
TheWorks.co.uk stated that it does not currently expect that the incident will have a "material adverse impact" on its forecasts or financial position.
It noted that while payment data has not been compromised, it "has not yet been possible to establish the full extent to which any other data may have been affected." As such the company has informed the Information Commissioner's Office.
Shares were down 0.3% at 52.44 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
