(Alliance News) - Dialog Semiconductor PLC will provide Carnival PLC with wireless technology devices for use on cruise ships, the companies announced on Monday.
Dialog's wireless ranging technology will be used in Carnival's OceanMedallion wearable devices, which offer proximity-based services onboard ships.
"Partnering with Dialog further enhances the performance of these wearable devices as we expand the Ocean Platform to power all aspects of the guest experience, service operations, security, health and safety processes," commented John Padgett, chief experience & innovation officer for Carnival.
The technology will be used within devices connecting passengers on Princess MedallionClass cruise ships. Princess, one of Carnival's cruise brands, said it will use the technology to enable higher accuracy ranging between Medallions, improving the company's ability to protect passengers from exposure to coronavirus infection.
"These technologies, which I am particularly proud to deliver, significantly outperform competing solutions in challenging environments such as cruise ships or safety and asset tracking type applications," said Sean McGrath, senior vice president & general manager of Connectivity and Audio Business at Dialog.
Carnival shares were trading 0.6% higher on Monday at 1,453.80 pence each. Shares in Dialog were flat at EUR67.34 in Frankfurt.
