(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of London-listed company director and manager changes announced on Wednesday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

Smiths News PLC - Swindon, England-based newspaper and magazine wholesaler - Hires Paul Baker as chief financial officer, starting October 4. Baker was Integration director at FTSE 100 catering firm Compass Group PLC, working at Compass since 2013 also in finance roles. Baker replaces Tony Grace, who will step down from the board on November 30 and retire as a Smiths News executive on December 31.

Block Energy PLC - oil and gas development and production company focused on Georgia - Shareholders at a general meeting on Wednesday reject proposals by Forest Nominees Ltd, acting on behalf of GP Jersey Ltd, to remove Chair Philip Dimmock and replace him with Charles Valceschini. Over 60% of votes are against both resolutions.

Bytes Technology Group PLC - Surrey, England-based software focused on cloud and security products - Hires Erika Schraner as independent non-executive director, starting September 1. Schraner held senior professional services roles at accountants Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers, working in Silicon Valley in the US. She is a non-executive director of London listings JTC PLC, a fund services provider, and Aferian PLC, which offers media technology.

Gulf Investment Fund PLC - invests in companies in Gulf Cooperation Council countries with Qatar Insurance Co as investment adviser - Hires Anderson Whamond as non-executive director, effective immediately. Whamond has 30-years experience in banking and financial services, the fund notes, and currently is non-executive director of Guernsey-based International Stock Exchange Group Ltd.

InfraStrata PLC - London-based infrastructure projects developer - Hires Jonathon Band as non-executive director, starting at the end of August. Band is a former first sea lord & chief of Naval Staff of the Royal Navy, prior to which he was commander in chief Fleet. Band currently is a non-executive director of cruise operator Carnival PLC.

Greatland Gold PLC - Havieron gold-copper project in Western Australia - Hires Otto Richter as group mining engineer, starting on Monday next week. Richter was group study manager for Resolute Mining Ltd and mine planning manager at Newcrest Mining Ltd for the Telfer gold mine. Newcrest is Greatland's partner on the Havieron project, which is 45 kilometres east of Tefler.
