(Alliance News) - Asia-focused digital investor Sealand Capital Galaxy Ltd on Friday said it has entered exclusive product-specific distribution contracts with British skincare brands Heath London and The Gruff Stuff, as well as Dublin-based cosmetics company Carter Beauty.
Sealand will distribute the brands - which are focused on ethical production and sustainability - through e-commerce and retail channels in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
Executive Chair Nelson Law will lend Sealand HKD2 million to support the initiatives and the production of an e-commerce platform. The loan is unsecured, interest-free and without a fixed term. Draw down will be available over a period of the next three months.
"Covid-19 has accelerated the change in consumer buying habits and more and more Chinese consumers, as elsewhere in the world, are looking to buy niche luxury and quality products online," said Law.
Law added that the brands will be targeted at "young, urban professionals" in China, noting "a new type of Far Eastern consumer" that seeks sustainable products.
Shares in Sealand were down 2.0% at 1.10 pence in London on Friday.
