(Alliance News) - Liontrust ESG Trust PLC, an investment company launched by Liontrust Asset Management PLC, on Friday announced its intention to raise GBP150 million in an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange main market.

The trust will invest in a diversified portfolio of between 25 and 35 sustainable companies, it said. It's being launched at "a time of rising interest in sustainability and sustainable investments." The portfolio will be managed by Peter Michaelis, Simon Clements and Chris Foster.

The company expects to publish its prospectus in late May and close the initial issue in late June.

"The launch of ESGT recognises the growing demand for sustainable investment as an increasing number of people want their investments to make positive contributions to society, the environment and the economy," Liontrust Chief Executive John Ions said.

Shares in Liontrust, a FTSE 250 member, were up 1.0% to 1,614.00 pence in London.
