Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings Meeting, we have moved the BlackRock UK Special Situations fund to a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Neutral. The fund was previously Under Review following the announcement that longstanding manager Richard Plackett was going to retire by the end of 2015. Plackett has been replaced by Luke Chappell, himself a highly experienced fund manager, who has been at BlackRock since 1998. Chappell will work alongside existing co-manager Roland Arnold. Although Chappell has a good track record managing UK large-cap stocks, we are keen to see how he adapts to this all-cap mandate, how the mandate evolves as a result of his involvement and how well the two co-managers work together, before awarding a positive rating.
