We have downgraded the Morningstar Analyst Rating™ for Loomis Sayles Global Opportunistic Bond to Bronze from Silver. The fund benefits from an experienced group of managers, including Ken Buntrock and David Rolley, who have been at the helm since 2000. It takes an opportunistic, bargain-hunting approach to global bond markets, which has worked well over the long haul. More recently, however, the portfolio has maintained a more subdued profile, and, in this toned-down format, the fund’s recent results have been less inspiring than its longer-term record. We also note that the fees charged to investors haven’t budged during the past several years and remain significantly higher than the category median, eroding our conviction in the fund’s merits.
