Following a recent Morningstar Analyst Ratings Committee Meeting, Morningstar has downgraded the Jupiter Merlin Growth, Balanced and Income funds to Silver, and the Jupiter Merlin Worldwide to Bronze. The funds were all previously rated Gold. This follows the decision of Peter Lawery, one of the Merlin range’s three longstanding fund managers, to step down. The first three funds remain the highest rated multi-manager funds in the Morningstar GBP Allocation Categories, but with a lower level of conviction after the loss of Lawery. The lower rating of Jupiter Merlin Worldwide reflects, in addition, the more limited scope to add value from allocation in this single asset (equities) portfolio. The Jupiter Merlin Conservative fund retains its Bronze rating.
