We have awarded the Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust (EWI) a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of Bronze. We placed the fund, which was previously rated Silver, under review following its mandate change in January 2014. At that time, the fund changed its investment remit from global large-cap to global small-cap, which has resulted in portfolio responsibilities transferring from Mark Urquhart to Douglas Brodie, with John MacDougall as deputy manager.

Although it's still early days, we think shareholders are in good hands; both managers are experienced investors who are well supported by both the fund house and the board. Their process is thorough and robust and the fund benefits from a simple, shareholder-friendly and competitive fee structure.
