We took the four highest-rated UK small-cap funds – Aberforth UK Small Companies, Artemis UK Smaller Companies, Old Mutual Smaller Companies and Standard Life UK Smaller Companies – and using the Morningstar X-Ray tool examined their underlying holdings.
Each of these funds has been awarded a Gold Rating by Morningstar analysts, meaning they are expected to outperform their peers and their benchmark in the future. Their underlying holdings are diverse – but these names cropped up more than once meaning the professionals have conviction in their potential. Remember small companies should only make up a small part of your portfolio and can be volatile.
