Following the Morningstar OBSR Analyst Ratings Meeting on 8th January 2014, we have moved the Baillie Gifford American fund to a Morningstar OBSR Analyst Rating™ of Bronze. The fund was previously Under Review following the news in June 2013 that the fund’s lead manager, Mick Brewis, would be retiring. Although Mr Brewis handed over management of the fund to Ian Tabberer at the end of 2013, he is staying at Baillie Gifford until May 2014 in order to facilitate a smooth transition. Our decision to reinstate the fund’s Bronze rating is based on Mr Tabberer’s experience within US equities, his strong familiarity with firm’s investment philosophy and the fund’s investment process, which provides a degree of continuity and stability.
